After years of raising wonderful kiddos, dogs, and birds while building scientific data systems and chasing the next professional milestone, I’m making room for a different kind of work: getting outside, learning useful things, revisiting old interests, and writing down what happens along the way.

The Next Experiment is part travelblog, part workshop notebook, part career-reinvention journal, and part running field log. It may include motorcycle roads, fly-fishing experiments, gear, dogs, food projects, travel, tools, and other attempts to get out of the house and back into motion.

Some entries will be useful. Some will be awkward, unfinished, or occasionally ridiculous. Others may wander into work, science, technology, and the strange middle space between a career plan and whatever comes next. The point is not to make every experiment elegant, but to keep trying things, write down what happens, and learn something useful before the next experiment begins.
